Pro Tools 5.1.3 and DigiTranslator 2.0
ReleasedIncreased Interoperability for Pro Tools and Avid Workstations. November 18, 2001
Digidesign is now shipping Pro Tools version 5.1.3 software. Providing enhanced
functionality and compatibility, Pro Tools version 5.1.3 streamlines the workflow between
Digidesign and Avid workstations.
The combination of DigiTranslator 2.0 and Pro Tools version 5.1.3 provides key
features to the post-production community. Users can now import and export OMF media
or sequence files without ever leaving the Pro Tools application. With integrated edit
rate, sample rate and bit-depth conversion, DigiTranslator 2.0 enables Pro Tools 5.1.3
to export/import both 24-bit and 16-bit WAV, AIFF, and Sound Designer II OMF files.
Avid clip-based and keyframe volume data is now translated into Pro Tools breakpoint
automation playlists. DigiTranslator also creates sample-accurate exports of Pro Tools
audio and session files for Avid and other OMF 2.0-capable systems. And users can now
play back an embedded OMF sequence without wasting time waiting to extract the
individual media files.
Optimizing the creative flow from Avid to Pro Tools workstations -- and back --
DigiTranslator 2.0 also allows Pro Tools 5.1.3 to work directly with Avid Unity
MediaManager. MediaManager is a browser-based file management system that works
with Avid Unity MediaNet shared storage systems. With Pro Tools 5.1.3, Pro Tools
audio files can now be checked into the MediaManager database directly from Pro Tools.
Files and regions are listed by their original names within MediaManager's projects and
bins layout, familiar to any Avid user. This integration allows MediaManager to
effortlessly locate all files used in a sequence. Pro Tools and Avid-generated files can be
dragged directly from the MediaManager browser window onto the Pro Tools timeline for
seamless import of OMF audio, video and sequence files. Pro Tools version 5.1.3 and
MediaManager make sharing sessions over a MediaNet shared storage system virtually
effortless.
Finally, with AVoption|XL and FilmFrame (see special offer below), Pro Tools 5.1.3
allows for playback and editing of 24P video files created on Avid 24P systems such as
Film Composer, Film Composer XL and Avid Symphony. The 24P standard provides
maximum flexibility and quality for both editing and creating film or video masters; and
now Pro Tools 5.1.3 closes the post-production loop by eliminating the need for
complicated, risky and time-consuming conversions to other formats when working with
audio.Additional features:
- Supports Broadcast WAV (.WAV), AIFF and Sound Designer II OMF audio files for seamless exchange of audio material across the widest range of platforms.
- Drag and drop any file onto the Pro Tools session and it automatically converts to the correct sample rate and bit depth
- Choose to import either rendered audio effects or their untreated source files
- Copy or consolidate media on export
