TC WORKS have announced that the native TC SurroundVerb
Plug-In for Steinberg's Nuendo will become available in a version
utilizing the DSP-power of TC PowerCore.
TC Native SurroundVerb takes advantage of Nuendo's Surround processing
and mixing capabilities, and delivers very hi-end results. Due to the
hi-quality requirements in the Nuendo environment, the CPU load of the
Plug-In is quite high. Depending on processor speed, around 35 -- 60% are
required per instance in 48 kHz mode -- double that in 96 kHz! This was
preventing users from running more than 1 - 2 reverbs at a time.
The new TC PowerCore version will now allow users to easily run multiple
instances: Each reverb instance won't use up more than 3 - 4% native CPU
resources -- as the DSP code will run on PowerCore and not on the host!
One card has enough power to run 4 reverbs at 48 kHz, and at least 2 at
96 kHz! As multiple PowerCore cards may be used in one system, the user
can expand his system to run up to 8 TC SurroundVerbs in 96 kHz.
The TC PowerCore version will be added to the TC Native SurroundVerb
version as a free update. With the availability of the new version in
December 2001, the product will be renamed to "TC SurroundVerb" and
include both versions.
The TC SurroundVerb is being distributed exclusively by Steinberg Media
Technologies AG and its distributors. Recommended Retail price: $ 799
