October 16, 2002Sonic Foundry has announced the 5.1 Surround Plug-In Pack for ACID PRO 4.0. This new product allows users to encode ACID mixes to 5.1 multichannel surround or stereo Dolby Digital AC-3 files, and burn them to DVD. The plug-in ships with two components:
Sonic Foundry AC-3 Encoder Plug-In features:
Accessed through ACID PRO 4.0, the Dolby Digital encoder provides optimized templates for creating DVD compliant AC-3 files (5.1 surround or stereo), and offers sophisticated customization options previously found only in expensive professional encoders. These include data rate, sample rate, coding mode, bit-stream mode, dialog normalization, center and surround mix levels. Also included are input filtering, channel processing, RF over-modulation protection and dynamic range compression.
Sonic Foundry AC-3 DVD Burner features:
This easy-to-use DVD burning utility for ACID PRO 4.0 allows users to burn 5.1 or stereo AC-3 files to DVD (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW).
"ACID PRO supports 5.1 multichannel surround mixing and the 5.1 Surround Plug-In Pack provides musicians and producers with a professional solution to encode and distribute surround mixes," said Brad Reinke, senior vice president and general manager of software products at Sonic Foundry. "The 5.1 Surround Plug-In Pack lets users encode to Dolby Digital AC-3 stereo or multichannel surround directly from ACID PRO 4.0, and also provides a utility for burning AC-3 files to DVD for playback on 5.1 home theatre systems and other audio set-ups that support multichannel surround Dolby Digital AC-3."
