Sonic Foundry Inc. announced the return of their professional CD burning application, CD Architect. Version 5.0 will be released as a re-engineered stand-alone application that includes significant feature enhancements and a more complete production environment for producing Red Book CD pre-masters suitable for professional replication.
With CD Architect, users can extract audio from compact discs or import supported files from their PC. Tracks can be arranged by Playlists and be built with regions from one or more files. CD Architect also lets users import markers and regions created in Sonic Foundry's audio editor, Sound Forge, and create tracks from them. CD Architect allows users to burn Red Book audio CDs that include track number, track start time, index number, and UPC/MCN coding.
In compliance with Red Book standard, up to 99 tracks can be written on each disk. CD Architect burns with the disc-at-once (DAO) method that allows users to create tracks with variable times between them, perform automatic crossfades between tracks or place hidden tracks on the CD.
PQ code editing is fully supported, including track times, sub-indices, ISRC codes, and Protection and Emphasis flags. CD Architect also verifies the project against the Red Book Standard before burning and allows for test burns eliminating the possibility of producing unusable disks. In addition, audio mastering can be performed using over 20 real-time DirectX audio effects that ship with the product or with any third-party DirectX plug-in.
Other features include:
- Expanded Drive Support including Firewire and USB devices
- Real-Time DirectX effects on events and master bus
- Event Normalization
- Audio Scrub
- Unlimited Volume Envelope Points
- Trimmer and Explorer Windows
- Dual Monitor Support with undockable windows
- Smart Track Reordering
- Greater than 1:1 Zoom
- Cue sheet printing
- Support for up to 32-bit 192kHz source audio
- Hi-Quality Re-sampling and Dithering on the fly of non- 16-bit/44.1kHz files
