Digidesign announced the release of Dolby Surround Tools, the latest cross-platform version that supports the 96 kHz sample rate capabilities of Pro Tools|HD.
With millions of home theater and multimedia systems equipped for Dolby Surround playback, the demand for LCRS surround-encoded programming is skyrocketing. With Dolby Surround Tools, users can produce Dolby Surround mixes on both Mac and Windows-based Pro Tools TDM systems for videos, TV shows, ad spots, multimedia, CDs, and video games entirely within the Pro Tools environment. Please note that Dolby Surround Tools is compatible with Dolby Surround LCRS mixes only, and is not designed for use with Dolby Digital 5.1 mixes.
Dolby Surround Tools make surround mixing far more efficient for the Pro Tools workstation user. D-to-A and A-to-D conversions are no longer needed due to Dolby Surround Tools' LCRS encoding and decoding processes matching those of industry standard Dolby Model SEU4 and DP563 hardware encoders and Dolby Model SDU4 and DP564 hardware decoders. In addition, Dolby Surround Tools also supports Pro Tools multi-channel tracks and sample rates up to 96 kHz.
Features include:
- Dolby Surround LCRS Encoder and Decoder TDM Plug-ins
- Support for Pro Tools multi-channel tracks
- Support for Pro Tools surround panner
- With Pro Tools|HD, supports sample rates up to 96 kHz
- Backwards-compatible with Dolby Surround Tools 2.0 Panner
- Supports Multishell DSP sharing technology
- Full recall with Pro Tools sessions
All customers who are registered for both Dolby Surround Tools and Pro Tools|HD will be automatically mailed the Dolby Surround Tools update kit. Pro Tools|MIX customers registered for Dolby Surround Tools can upgrade to Dolby Surround Tools v3.0 for $95 through Digidesign Customer Service.
