pHATmatik Free Virtual Instrument Now for OS X
November 6, 2002Bitshift Audio announced the availability of their free virtual instrument pHATmatik for OS X in both Audio Unit and VST formats.
"We're completely enthralled by OS X and particularly the new Audio Unit standard from Apple. The new platform is opening doors for us in terms of what we can make music software do. It's a very exciting place to be right now, both as a developer and as a musician. pHATmatik is only a portent of things to come." said Art Gillespie, director of development at Bitshift Audio.
pHATmatik leverages the REX (1) file format, giving
users access to a massive selection of REX-formatted libraries from
third parties.
pHATmatik is the first virtual instrument that can extract the 'groove'
information from a REX file and export it to a Standard Midi File, allowing
users to reconstruct the original groove in their midi-capable VST host
without a REX authoring tool.
In addition to REX load/export/playback support, pHATmatik provides
the user with standard sampler-like tools for creatively modifying
the loop: ADSR envelope, a 'pHAT' 2-pole multimode resonant filter.
pHATmatik for OS X is available for free download from Bitshift Audio's web site.
