Event Releases Windows XP ASIO/WDM Driver for EZ8
Audio Interface
January 5, 2002
Event Electronics announced the
availability of Version 1.0 of the Windows XP ASIO/WDM driver for their EZ8
Optical Audio Interface. The EZ8 is an inexpensive PCI card with ADAT
lightpipe I/O that allows users to get high-quality digital audio into and
out of their computers.
The new driver supports eight channels of
24-bit/48kHZ audio I/O when used with an ASIO- or WDM-capable audio
application running under Windows XP Home or Pro editions. When recording
with programs such as Steinberg's Cubase SX and Nuendo, or Cakewalk's Sonar,
the driver boasts latencies as low as 2-3 milliseconds on standard Pentium-
and AMD-based hosts.
The EZ8 is designed for use with Event's EZbus Computer Audio Recording
Interface / Software Control Surface / Stand-Alone Digital Mixer, or any
device, such as a Modular Digital Multitrack, that is equipped with ADAT
lightpipe I/O. Connections between the EZbus and the EZ8 are made entirely
in the digital domain via fiber optic cables, so the sonic integrity---i.e.,
S/N ratio, dynamic range, and THD+n---of the source signals are precisely
maintained.
Users can download the EZ8 Windows XP driver at no charge.
