Chafin Guitars Unveils Helios
November 30, 2003 The new Chafin Helios features the company's Sonic-Art Bridge as the centerpiece of this new design. The Sonic-Art Bridge is available in 6 distinctive designs. Each guitar is hand crafted in Clearwater, Florida by respected luthier Ben Chafin. This bolt-on design features a bird's eye neck and Grover locking tuners.
The Chafin Sonic-Art Bridge makes the Helios distinctive in appearance, but it also makes a sonic impact according to the company. The all brass plate along with a string-thru-body design helps to improve the transfer of vibration from the strings to the body.
The tone of the Helios is also aided by a specially designed set of pickups produced for Chafin by Bill Bartolini.
Each Chafin Helios has a humbucker in the bridge position and a mini-humbucker in the neck position. "We include a push/pull pot for splitting the pickups, which further expands the range of possibilities" Ben explains.
