Intuem Updated for OS X Panther

December 3, 2003

Intuem now works with Panther, Apple's latest operating system. Several new features have been added to version 2.1.0 of Intuem which is a free upgrade to existing owners of Intuem 2.

What's new in Intuem 2.1.0:

  • Updated for Mac OS X 10.3 Panther. Intuem 2.1 also works with Mac OS X version 10.2.6 (Jaguar) with QuickTime 6.0 or QuickTime 6.4.
  • Added adjustable quantize strength. Can now adjust how strong a quantize adjustment will be so that if one wants to simply sharpen up a performance instead of making it completely metronome-like, they can. Strength, in percent, can be set anywhere from 1% to 100%.
  • Added a visual, editable, indicator for the section being looped. When looping is switched on, the section to be looped is indicated in the time ruler in blue with standard notation repeat markers at start and end that can be dragged with the mouse.
  • A face-lift: users can now choose from the standard white appearance or switch to the new brushed metal appearance for the composition window. The toolbar has been updated too:
  • Added a toolbar item to indicate the current tempo, and to allow typing in a tempo, including fractional values.
  • Completely redesigned and expanded the toolbar with new items, new graphics and new controls. Some of the new changes include: tempo indicator and entry field, metronome switch, quantise strength pull-down with entry field, new scrubber indicator display with loop start & end included, inspector button, help button, and a monitor button.
  • When entering a program with the sliders in the inspector, the program change is sent immediately to the device so if can be auditioned before dismissing the sheet.
  • Added new options to MIDI device preferences to indicate specific behaviour during looping to eliminate potentially skipped notes when a loop restarts. Added options for handling the setting-up of AudioUnit instruments during play.
  • Added a new "Advanced" preferences panel to allow adjusting buffer sizes and other performance points.
  • Issues regarding adjusting gain and volume, and of panning stereo or mono audio tracks have all been addressed and now those functions behave as expected in Mac OS X 10.2 and Mac OS X 10.3.
  • Starting-up times have been greatly improved if you have many AudioUnits and DLS or SoundFont files. Incompatibilities with various 3rd party AU's have been addressed, with a mechanism added to help you identify any future components that may have incompatibilities with Intuem.
  • Addressed issues where recording may appear to work but nothing is recorded, and a bug causing Intuem to crash when starting or restarting play.

Changes made for Intuem 2.0.1 incorporated into Intuem 2.1.0

  • Added support to use MusicEffect AudioUnits as AudioUnit Effects.
  • Can now select an audio clip when shown in waveform by double-clicking anywhere in the clip.
  • When clicking the mouse on a slider of any type in the mixer the user can now see the value of the control.
