Turbosound is now shipping the LMS-D4 digital Loudspeaker Management System. The LMS-D4 is designed for use with Turbosound loudspeakers in a variety of live sound and fixed installation applications in search of an affordable, compact and powerful DSP-based audio processing unit. Designed to provide tailored equalization and crossover functions specific to QLight, HiLight, TCS Series, and TFM Series loudspeaker systems, the LMS-D4 ships with factory-set programs for front-of-house and floor monitor applications. Offering excellent sound quality and a feature set akin to more expensive digital crossovers, the LMS-D4 forms a sound reinforcement system, when partnered with TQ-310 or TQ-315 loudspeakers, that's in a class all on its own.
The main features include: FIR and IIR filters for optimal audio quality; high performance limiters; gain, polarity and bass trim; up to 42ms of delay per output for precise alignment of drivers and external subwoofers; and a 100V to 240V AC auto-switching power supply.
The LMS-D4 offers two inputs and four outputs on balanced three-pin XLR connectors, which can be software configured in two-way stereo or three-way mono mode. A combined IEC mains inlet and fuseholder round out the back panel. A backlit LCD panel, four non-latching push buttons and a rotary encoder provide the main front panel control interface. Additionally there are signal and clip LEDs for each input channel, plus a limiter LED per output channel. A mute button - with status LED - operates on all output channels, while a nine-pin RS-232 port connects the LMS-D4 to a PC for current and future program downloads.
The LMS-D4 provides a simple, easy-to-navigate menu structure. The required loudspeaker program with its associated parameters are recalled from the default main menu, while the setup menu allows control of input and amplifier gain, limiter settings, delay times, polarity, and LF frequency shelving controls to specifically match any live operating environment. The utilities menu allows users to set a three-digit password for system security, reset factory defaults and download programs from a PC.
Sennheiser will be distributing all of Turbosound's product ranges into the U.S. market, encompassing the QLight(tm) systems - including the recently introduced multi-purpose TQ-300 Series - as well as the Flashlight(r) and Floodlight(r) systems. Activity will also be focused on Turbosound's forthcoming series of specialist compact systems for the install market.
