June 10, 2003MusicXPC has announced the availability of its MusicXPC Professional audio production computer. Based on a Shuttle small form-factor PC, MusicXPC is an Intel based computer system completely tweaked for audio and music applications. Available through music retailers like Sam Ash Music, Manny's Music, Long & McQuade, Tom Lee, B&H Photo, Annex Pro, Mother's Music, Alto Music and others, the MusicXPC Professional is the also one of the quietest computers ever. A heat-pipe cooling system eliminates the need for multiple, noisy fans.
MusicXPC was developed to provide a powerful, quiet computer that not just functions, but works optimally in the audio production workspace. MusicXPC ships ready to accept virtually all music and audio related software approved for Windows XP and hardware supporting a PCI, AGP, USB, or FireWire interface.
The MusicXPC Professional ships with an Intel 2.53GHz processor, two 80GB ATA-133 hard drives, 512MB of PC2700 RAM, DVD Combo drive, Keyboard, Optical Mouse and Windows XP Home. Built into the chassis are numerous expansion ports, including 4 x USB2.0 ports, 3 x IEEE1394 ports and SPDIF I/O connectors. The MusicXPC Professional has a tiny footprint - measuring just 30cm [L] x 20cm [W] x 18.2cm [H] - [11.8" x 7.9" x 7.3"] - and weighs just 2.8kg. There are no other configurations offered at this time.
