First Title in Cycles Audio Libraries Announced: Sustained Encounters December 8, 2003
Cycling '74 announced its new Cycles series of audio source libraries. Cycles is intended to complement Cycling '74's software and music releases with libraries of sound effects, ambient sound, rhythmic loops and incidental music for use by musicians, sound designers and media producers.
Cycling '74 has tapped sound library pioneer Ron MacLeod, creator of the award winning 'Poke in the Ear' libraries, to produce and curate the Cycles series. With this new series, MacLeod expands upon his previous work by producing a continuing series of 'inspirational' sonic collections, and using Cycling '74's processing tools-Max/MSP, Pluggo and Radial.
The first volume in the series, Sustained Encounters, consists of long evolving environments and unfolding atmospheres. Culled from MacLeod's private reserve, an accumulation of years of film sound design and sonic exploration, this first release in the Cycles series presents a collection of surreal stylings that will add a cinematic feel to any production.
The Cycles series of releases are packaged as a dual-disc release - a high capacity DVD-ROM, along with a standard audio CD for an easy auditioning alternative. Sustained Encounters' 24bit/48kHz .wav files are prepared for ease of use in Film, DV and multimedia productions, and 44.1kHz versions are included for direct compatibility with music composition tools. This release also includes a sampling of 5.1 Multi-channel pieces.
The files are seamlessly looped end to end for laying down beds imported directly to DAW, playback in loop sequencers (such as Live, Acid and Cycling 74's Radial software) or manipulation by a sampler.
Sustained Encounters will be available in Q1 2004 for a MSRP US$99.00 directly from Cycling '74.
