Gibson Original has announced the launch of the Ricky Skaggs Limited Edition Distressed Master Model mandolin. The result of over a year of close cooperation between Ricky and Gibson Original Acoustic Instruments, Ricky's signature mandolin is closely based on his 1923 Lloyd Loar F-5.
The Ricky Skaggs Distressed Master Model features a beautiful Cremona Sunburst finish which gracefully accents the premium, red spruce top and maple back and sides. With a tap-tuned top for crisp chops and articulate lines, exquisite binding and headstock inlay, and a comfortable "speed neck" profile, it is an exact replica of Ricky's F-5.
Each mandolin in this limited 30-instrument run comes with a certificate of authenticity, and is personally inspected by Ricky to insure it meets his rigorous standards for tone, playability, and appearance. The hardshell case for this stunning mandolin is protected by a custom-embroidered Small Dog cover, and the instrument comes with a Tone-Gard back isolator and a copy of Instrumentals.
