The Museum of Making Music is pleased to announce its 4th annual Evening of Note fundraiser, which will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Museum, 5790 Armada Drive in Carlsbad, California. This event will benefit the Museum's ongoing operations and activities that impact the surrounding local communities.

The evening will feature six different musical acts performing throughout the Museum to create a showcase of sounds that have shaped the last century of American popular music. The night will include a silent and live auction, heavy hors d'oeuvres, a glass of complimentary wine, light dessert, a champagne toast and dancing. This year's event will honor Grammy award winning composer/arranger and Carlsbad resident, Mr. Sammy Nestico, and local San Diego musical icon, Peter Sprague.

Sammy Nestico is best known as the composer/arranger for the Count Basie orchestra from 1970 and 1984. He directed the recording of ten albums of original music, four of which won Grammy awards. He has orchestrated for such major film studios as 20th Century Fox, Universal, Paramount, Warner Brothers, MGM and Columbia. Sammy has arranged and conducted albums for recording artists Phil Collins, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and others. He has also made a huge impact in the educational community with nearly 600 numbers published and played in schools across America.

Peter Sprague grew up in Del Mar. He became a local favorite and a nationally recognized jazz musician, appearing on over 190 recordings. Official nods to Mr. Sprague's work include the Best Jazz Artist award multiple times, from both the San Diego Music Awards and the San Diego Reader. Having played with numerous other Jazz legends such as Chick Corea, Hubert Laws, Charlie Haden, David Benoit, and countless others, he has had a long and varied career, including work as a composer, transcriber, author, producer, and more. He runs his own recording studio, Spragueland, in Leucadia.

We invite everyone to join us for this elegant evening of musical memories. Tickets are $100 and sponsorship opportunities are still available. For tickets, or for more information, please contact Jillian Jepsen at (760) 438-5996 ext. 212.
