PRESS RELEASE

Museum Of Making Music To Host Creative Arts Clarinet Trio

August 26, 2006

On Saturday, September 2 at 1 PM, the Museum of Making Music hosts the Creative Arts Clarinet Trio for an hour-long musical journey of the history of wind music. The trio consists of three members of the Clarinet/Bass Clarinet section of the Coastal Communities Concert Band and their performance of this arrangement will be the first to the public.

The program opens with the familiar Allegro from Divertimento IV composed by W.A. Mozart, continuing with a transcription of recorder music from a Dutch composer in the early 1400s. The program also includes an English folk song (circa 1550), three short selections composed by J.S. Bach (circa 1685-1750), compositions from Anton Stadler (close friend of Mozart) and Ludwig Van Beethoven.

The audience also has the chance to see how wind music has evolved into more contemporary works with a tango by Isaac Albeniz, a jazz version of "Bach and Forth" composed by Pete Rugulo and "Blues Trio No. 1" composed by Bill Smith.
