Developed over a number of years by leading British classical guitar maker, David Whiteman, and inspired by the great traditional makers, his Whiteman Concert guitar can be ordered in medium to large body size with a scale length of 650mm, or altered to suit the player's requirements.
Available in a variety of woods from European spruce or cedar for the soundboard, there's a choice of Brazilian rosewood, Indian rosewood flamed maple or birds eye maple for both back and sides. Machine heads wherever possible are Rodgers, as specified by many leading concert performers. While fingerboard dimensions can be altered, Whiteman offers them as standard measuring 52mm at the nut.
Rejecting 80% of what he sees when buying his wood, this selection process is further refined in Whiteman's workshop when choosing materials for specific guitars. This attention to detail is continued in every aspect, from the handmade rosettes, each individually designed and assembled, to the traditional French polish finish.
According to their maker, his aim is to produce guitars that have balance and clarity with a crisp, strong treble and a firm, powerful bass response. While great volume has never been a priority, Whiteman knows from experience his guitars have the projection and power professional players demand.
Today, having built some 140 instruments, David Whiteman guitars have found homes in Japan, America and Europe. For more information, visit their web site at www.whitemanguitars.com.
