Avlex Debuts New MX8-1RM Mic-Line Mixer

September 26, 2007

Avlex Corporation is pleased to introduce the new Avlex MX8-1RM Mic-Line Mixer. This versatile 1RU rackmount audio mixer supporting eight mic/line channels—each with its own volume and tone control—is the ideal tool for a wide range of sound reinforcement applications, including boardrooms and presentation spaces, small theaters or churches, as well as being an excellent choice as a submix into a larger mixing system.

The new Avlex MX8-1RM features a wealth of useful features for today's sound reinforcement professional. With an easy-to-grasp, logically laid out front panel that provides eight mic/line channels—each with its own volume and tone control—as well as a Master Volume control and a power On/Off switch, the MX8-1RM provides quick access to the mixer's most critical functions. To accommodate a broad range of input sources, the MX8-1RM's rear panel provides six channels with balanced XLR and quarter-inch TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) mic/line inputs, along with two channels of RCA unbalanced line inputs and quarter-inch TRS balanced mic/line inputs. With the ability to accommodate everything from wired and wireless microphones to CD players, the Avlex MX8-1RM Mic-Line Mixer is well suited for most any sound reinforcement task.

Of particular note, the new MX8-1RM features eight 48 Volt Phantom power dip switches—one for each microphone input. This feature makes the mixer ideally suited for connecting upwards of eight high quality cardioid condenser microphones (which typically require Phantom power). This capability enables the MX8-1RM to be used as part of a recording setup for capturing live performances. With both quarter-inch TRS and XLR balanced main outputs, the new MX8-1RM can easily be interfaced with numerous types of professional audio equipment.

Featuring both Aux/Bus inputs as well as a Pre-Fader output, the new Avlex MX8-1RM can easily be expanded to create a larger capacity mixing system. For example, by connecting the Pre-Fader output of an MX8-1RM to the Aux/Bus input of a second such unit, the two MX8-1RM audio mixers can easily be cascaded into a sixteen channel system. By daisy chaining multiple units together in this fashion, the system offers tremendous growth potential.

The new Avlex MX8-1RM mixer's performance is every bit as impressive as its feature set. With a THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) rating of <0.003%, a signal-to-noise ratio of 106 dB, and a frequency response ranging from 16 Hz-22 kHz (-3 dB), the Avlex MX8-1RM delivers clean, quiet, audio performance. Housed in a rugged metal enclosure and weighing a mere 4.8 pounds, the Avlex MX8-1RM Mic-Line Mixer makes an outstanding choice for a myriad of audio mixing tasks.

Jack Nead, national sales manager for Avlex Corporation, commented on the new MX8-1RM Mic-Line Mixer, "The MX8-1RM is a compact, low profile, rackmountable audio mixer that addresses a wide range of mixing tasks. With the ability to connect everything from high quality studio microphones for recording purposes to wireless and wired mics for live sound reinforcement, the MX8-1RM is a versatile tool that is right at home in almost any audio setting. With all the right input/output connections that enable this mixer to interface with a broad range of audio gear, I'm confident the MX8-1RM will prove invaluable to musicians and live sound engineers in addition to being a terrific piece for the contractor market."

The new Avlex MX8-1RM Mic-Line Mixer carries a MSRP of $240. The mixer is available now.
