A height adjustment has been a added to the Hoag custom bass bridge. This
will allow for raising the height of each string individually and allow string bowing.
In the past, solidbody instruments have been hampered by the lack
of pickup adjustments to allow for bowing. This has been solved by the
Hoag Optical Pickup System. By placing a longer adjustment screw on the sensor mounting plate, users can easily set the arch to a desired height.
The Hoag Optical Pickup System also solves the problems of "drop out signal," a loss of signal due to the elliptical pattern to the vibrating string. This drop out has been holding back the development of acoustical sounding amplified instruments. The bowed string sample, available on the Hoag Instruments website demonstrates this.
