Hoag Instruments is pleased to introduce the new K-MAX guitar. It has a "universal pickup circuit" which can be used on a variety of instruments, from violins to bass guitars.
With Hoag's universal pickup circuit, bowed instruments can be amplified just like standard picked string instruments. This is accomplished by using a "passive only circuit" - no other active components are used. The LEDs and the photo diodes are powered by an external power supply. Onboard power is also an option with some instruments. Weight is a factor in many instruments and an outside power supply is preferred.
Physical placement of photo devices are wide and varied for each instrument but the electronics for each is the same. Hoag's design facility has achieved a very small electronics package, and with special packaging will be no larger than 1" by 1" cube.
