Hughes & Kettner's brand-new Amp Guard is now available in well-stocked music stores for 149 euros MSRP.
Rock & roll often takes its toll on man and material. While some of the more hard-boiled axe-slingers proudly display scars of battle on their bodies and instruments, most players suffer when they see their prized tube amps damaged during transit. An unsightly tear or a scuffed corner is no badge of honor for a musician. The alternative has traditionally been a heavy, unwieldy flight case that makes a tube amp—by no means a featherweight even without the added case—all but impossible to transport alone.
Developed by the German tube amp experts Hughes & Kettner in collaboration with pro touring musicians, the Amp Guard is a special gig bag tailored to fit all H&K tube amp heads. The combination of tear-resistant cordura, precision-molded plastic reinforcements, and plywood panels makes for an extremely tough shell. Road-ready and rugged, it affords amps great protection on all sides. Two securing straps inside ensure a snug fit. And the entire interior is padded to protect the amp's sensitive outer surfaces.
With three handles and two twin casters, the amp is easy to tote even in confined spaces and by an unaccompanied musician. The two end-to-end zippers and locking Velcro cover comes in especially handy: Three twists of the wrist are all it takes to open and close the gig bag. It also sports a nifty pouch that stows away all the stuff players can't do without, such as cords, footswitches, strings, and tools.
