Mapex Releases Special Edition Pro M and Saturn Series Shell Packs

Mapex has announced the introduction of a special edition seven-piece Pro M series shell pack. Available in limited quantities, this shell pack is finished in a beautiful new Honey Maple Burst, which highly accentuates the drums' beautiful maple wood grain.

The seven-piece pack offers a configuration suitable for the majority of players and centers around the wildly popular 22x20 Pro M bass drum. The cannon-like bass drum is "virgin" and does not have a tom mount. Also included are 8x7, 10x8 and 12x9 suspended tom toms, 14x14 and 16x16 floor toms with legs and a 14x5.5 20-lug snare drum.

Also unique to this set is a white, coated bass drum head with a smaller version of the Mapex logo, screened in black. The set is only sold as a shell pack (Model Number PM728SUHT) and carries an MSRP of $2,049.99.

Because Mapex classifies this Pro M shell pack as a special edition, it is not included in the "Buy the Kit, Get the Cat" offer, which rewards Pro M purchasers with a free Black Panther Snare Drum.

Mapex has also announced the release of a luxurious seven-piece special edition Saturn Series shell pack to be offered in very limited quantities. Finished in a breathtaking new lacquer Blue Galaxy Sparkle Burst, the drums feature black chrome plated hoops and lugs.

The shell pack configuration is complete enough to satisfy a wide range of players. It includes a "virgin" 22x18 bass drum (with no tom mount), 8x7, 10x8 and 12x9 suspended tom toms, 14x14 and 16x16 floor toms with legs and a 14x5.5 snare drum with a Black Panther-style throw off.

Manufacturer's suggested retail price for this limited edition shell pack (Model Number SW728SUTT) is $3,413.99.

For an extra touch of contrast, Mapex has broken away from its traditional ebony front bass drum head and outfitted this set with a coated white Remo® front head with a smaller version of the Mapex logo. Toms are equipped with clear Remo® Emperor® batter heads, while the snare drum comes with a coated Ambassador® head.

Like all Saturn Series drums, this special edition features ultra thin six-ply shells, comprised of four premium maple exterior plies and two interior plies of high-grade walnut that give the drums superior bottom end, increased resonance and a dramatically broad tuning range.
