Marek Design Creative Microphone Systems introduces the KS3, a hand built true pressure transducer with an all tube amplifier. It is a condenser microphone system with a warm, three-dimensional, transparent sound. It has perfect impulse and phase response. The KS3 is especially created for high end recording applications.

The exceedingly thin pure Aluminium diaphragm of the new designed capsule is 1" in diameter. This gives the KS3 this unique and desirable sound. The polar pattern of the KS3 is Omni with a slightly directiv effect. It has an evenly increase of treble over 2kHz, what gives a very natural feeling. The microphone capsule has a strong and very flat frequency response down to lowest frequencies.

The KS3 is able to pick up the whole dynamic and sound colours of an orchestra. Therefore it is also well suited for recording many acoustic instruments such as piano, acoustic guitar or violin. The KS3 is very well suitable as a single overhead microphone on drum kits.

As known from the Marek Design RS1 and the VS2 microphone, the KS3 is built to a very high standart. With a very low self noise of 14 dB-A, more gain can be used without risk of adding noise to the final product. The dynamic range of the KS3 is 132 dB (extended dynamic range is 159 dB SPL), allowing reproduction of the full musical expression, without restraint. This microphone is able to accept sound pressure levels of up to a maximum of 173 dB. That means you can record everything in front of this mic.

Similar to the RS1 and the VS2 the output is both, line level and microphone level. Due to the line level output it is not necessary to use a mic pre-amp, but you can use preamp too. With the gain adjustment in the external control unit it is possible to drive recording equipment or A/D converters directly to ensure highest quality audio without any loss.

The KS3 has an integrated shock mount, that makes the mic very safe and easy to handle. Marek Design only uses handselected nonmicrophonic original NOS Special Quality longlife tubes. Housing, supply and shock mount are made of solid three-dimensional milled high-grade steel. The KS3 itself and all important parts of the microphone are built in Germany.
