The Museum Of Making Music Hosts Groove Camp For Adults
October 5, 2007
On November 9, 10 and 11, adults will be able to learn to groove on drumset, hand drums, and hand percussion. Featured drummer, composer, author, and educator Ed Roscetti covers a variety of traditional and hybrid styles in both classroom and ensemble settings accompanied by a professional rhythm section. Bass players and guitarists are welcome as well!
Styles covered include: samba, olodum, Afro-Cuban, jazz, blues, rock, funk and hip-hop. The rhythm section will accompany large and small group ensemble classes leading up to a final performance. On the last day, family and friends are invited to enjoy this interactive day of fun and music as students showcase their newly developed rhythmic skills. Playing in a rhythm section will give attendees a better understanding of the drum, bass and guitar relationship. Technique, time feel, rhythmic phrasing, song form, and improvisation will be highlighted.
This three day hands-on approach to drumming and rhythm section awareness will provide a unique opportunity for students of all levels to come together and communicate through rhythm.
The cost of the camp is $250 per participant. Contact Jillian Jepsen at (760) 438-5996, ext. 212 for information and registration.
