MusicXPC Introduces The C5 and C5x Core 2 Duo Media Production Computers

MusicXPC introduces the latest in its Small Form Factor line of media production computers.

New from MusicXPC are the Professional C5 and Professional C5x, state-of-the-art media production computers specifically designed for audio professionals such as musicians, producers and composers. The computers are designed by Les Bateman, an industry veteran and Hammond B3 ace musician who have been in the studio business for more than 30 years.

Professional C5 and C5x are Windows-based computers specially tweaked for media production. The computers are configured from the BIOS up to handle dozens of audio tracks, effects and virtual instruments with ease.

The Professional C5 features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 2.13 GHz on a 1,066 MHz front side bus. The machine comes with 1GB of DDR2-667MHz (Dual Channel) custom-built RAM, a 18X dual-layer DVD-/+RW and two separate 7200RPM hard drives providing a total of 570GB of storage. The hard drives [250GB and 320GB] also have 16MB cache for fast throughput and high track counts.

The Professional C5x features a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor on a 1,066 MHz bus and ships with 2GB of DDR2-667MHz (Dual Channel) custom-built RAM. In addition the C5x provides a 256MB DDR2 PCI-E x 16 Dual Channel Graphics Card (Dual DVI/ VGA). Supports Dual-Link DVI- DVI-I, TV-Out, HDTV Ready. The Professional C5 and C5x come with virtually all popular interfaces, ports and connectors including FireWire®, USB 2.0, PCI and Gigabit LAN.

Both computers feature an innovative Heat-pipe technology which ferries heat away from the CPU without the use of the large noisy fans that usually reside about the processor. The result is very quiet computer operation, ideal for music production and recording spaces where noise is public enemy number one.

The C5 and C5x come with the most comprehensive back-up and restore system available on any media computer to date. The back-up/restore system allows the user to restore the computer to factory setting even after a catastrophic failure, a drive crash or even a re-formatting. The factory state is stored in an invisible part of the main hard drive. This feature will allow musicians to minimize downtime caused by system failures.
