7th Annual Pacific Northwest Studio Summit Features Beatles Producer Geoff Emerick

March 2, 2007

The Pacific Northwest recording community will come together for a full day of education and networking at the 7th Annual Pacific Northwest Studio Summit presented by The Pacific Northwest Chapter and the Producers & Engineers Wing of The Recording Academy™. The Summit will feature keynote interviews with producer/engineer Geoff Emerick and GRAMMY™-winning producer Jimmy Jam as well as a panel of music industry professionals. The event will take place on Sat., Mar. 3, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., at Seattle's Experience Music Project (325 5th Ave. N.; on the Seattle Center Campus). Featuring GC Pro as its title sponsor, the Summit brings together individuals from all walks of the music industry to focus on the craft and creation of sound recordings. Admission is free for Recording Academy members, $25 for students, $45 for EMP (Experience Music Project) members and $50 for the general public.

"The PNW Studio Summit strives not only to spotlight the talented music makers of today but also to educate the innovators of tomorrow," said Ben London, Executive Director of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of The Recording Academy. "We are honored to have such industry masters as Geoff Emerick and Jimmy Jam, who have recorded so many hit records that their collective works alone could fill the great American song book."

The 2007 Summit will include a keynote interview by GRAMMY Award-winning engineer for the Beatles Geoff Emerick. He will also be signing* his new book Here, There And Everywhere: My Life Recording The Music Of The Beatles. Copies of his book will be available for purchase at the event. Howard Massey, co-author of the book, will be interviewing Emerick.

Additionally, an interview with four-time GRAMMY winner Jimmy Jam, who comprises half of one of the most successful songwriting/producing teams in modern music history, will close out the day. Since forming Flyte Tyme Productions in 1982, Jam, along with partner Terry Lewis, has written and/or produced more than 50 Billboard No.1 songs on the pop, R&B, and dance charts for a diverse array of artists including Mary J. Blige, Robert Palmer, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Rod Stewart, Yolanda Adams, Sting, Heather Headley, Usher, Jessica Simpson, and Janet Jackson.

Also featured is a panel on microphone technology, moderated by Larry Crane of TapeOp Magazine. Panelists include John Jennings, vice president of sales and marketing of Royer Labs, David Bock, co-founder of Sound Deluxe Microphones and Bob Heil, founder Heil Sound.
