Spectrasonics today released the official Apple Intel-Mac compatible Universal Binary version of its award-winning Stylus RMX™ - Realtime Groove Module. The new version 1.6 of Stylus RMX is a free downloadable compatibility update and is recommended for Intel-Mac users only. This update supports all Mac OS X Universal Binary Audio Unit, VST and RTAS hosts - including Logic Pro 7.2, Digital Performer 5.1, Cubase 4, Garageband 3, Ableton Live 6, Digidesign Pro Tools 7.1.1 and others. Stylus RMX is a groove-based virtual instrument plug-in that combines the power of Groove Control® with Spectrasonics' Advanced Groove Engine (S.A.G.E.™) technology, giving users dramatic new control over groove production and performance.
Spectrasonics was one of the first plug-in companies to support the new Universal Binary format with a public beta of Stylus RMX in early 2006. The official Stylus RMX version 1.6 can now be downloaded at the Spectrasonics update page.
All of the Spectrasonics SAGE Xpanders for Stylus RMX are also fully compatible with the new version 1.6 and Intel-Macs including Backbeat, Retro Funk, Liquid Grooves, Metamorphosis, and Burning Grooves. Ilio's SAGE Xpanders are also compatible: Stark Raving Beats, Ethno Techno, Skippy's Noizbox, and Skippy's Big Bad Beats.
The company has also posted an Intel-Mac information webpage.
The US suggested retail price for Stylus RMX is $299, while the European price is 249 Euros. Stylus RMX currently supports all major host applications compatible with Power PC and Intel-based Apple Macintosh AU, VST and RTAS, and Microsoft Windows VST and RTAS platforms. The US suggested retail price for SAGE Xpanders is $99US each.
