There is always something new appearing in the world of music and the internet, but the new TronMe technology is something completely innovative and very exciting. It's a new program that does so much that it's hard to know where to start!
This windows player allows you to take control of your favorite tracks and to make them your own. The music is uploaded in a totally new way, in a form known as .IVS. This means that each track is broken down into bits. There are the different segments of the song; the verse, chorus, bridge, introduction etc and the different instruments used on each track are also separated. The idea is that anyone, in their own home, is able to take these building blocks and make their own unique mix of the song. They can play around with it all as much as they want, or attempt to recreate the original mix. There's no end to the options. As fun as that is on its own - there is so much more to TronMe.
Not only can you mix the song to your heart's content there are different ways to take control. Using the mouse is the most basic way but, amazingly, this software also makes use of your webcam! You can control almost all the program simply from the movements picked up by it. For a controlled mix, you can pick you instruments and samples simply by moving your head!
On your monitor you have the tools to create not only your own audio mix of the track but also your own video to go with it. It's an entirely new kind of performance. Your movements are what makes the track sounds as it does. Your video is not simply of you moving to the music but of you moving to make the music. It's a subtle yet important difference. What you see on the screen is, predominantly, yourself. To the right of the screen are the instruments and sample tools. Simply by moving your head onto the sample you require the music and mix will change accordingly. With practice you can create the most intricate mixes of your favorite track simply by controlling your head movement. For a totally different effect the program also works the other way round. Just move to the music and see what happens! Your movements will still determine the sound of the track but without you having planned them. You could create something you would never have thought of!
TronMe is compatible with MSN, Skype and, of course, the home video recorder; the performance can be made all the more exciting by an audience or it can just be recorded in mp3 or avi to be watched back later.
Using your mouse together with the webcam opens up even more options. As your head controls the audio tools; instruments, samples and so on, your mouse takes control of the visual effects. As you click on these boxes you will immediately see the chosen effect on the screen. There are many options such FX effects and sparkly eyes that can add a whole extra dimension to your creation. Songs are downloaded from the website already in .IVS form and ready to go. The library of songs is always increasing giving users a great choice of tracks to play with.
The company behind the TronMe technology is 3D Solar UK Ltd. They are famous for creating the Interactive Video Space (IVS) and so there was always going to be a growing interactive angle to the program. A really exciting development is that users can perform their creations to the world! Each user will receive a free, live channel on which broadcast their personal performances. Using this channel, the video and audio mixes can be broadcast via any blog, on MySpace or on FaceBook. TronMe will also have a master live channel which will broadcast the best performances - a real incentive to keep practicing and put together a fantastic track! There is a link to the channel from the TronMe website. There are also plans to take the idea into the realms of real time messaging so that people could perform duets, the same song at the same time and yet their own individual mixes. The options are endless.
The software also has a game play element to it. The more you practice, the higher your level of skill and those who practice will gain rewards in terms of extra tools to play with. The whole thing is addictively fun and the fact that the end product can be performed to the world just makes it all the more exciting.
3D Solar UK Ltd are also holding the door open for any artists who would like to take advantage of this unique way of promoting their music. They have launched their own .IVS label and invite any artist to contact them via the 3DSolar website if they would like to jump on board this fantastic opportunity.
