Alesis Ships Flagship Drumset With Surge Cymbals
September 8, 2008
DM5 Pro Kit with SURGE Cymbals provides excellent feel, sounds, sonic flexibility and rugged support hardware. At the heart of the electronic kit is its sound module, the well-known Alesis DM5. Used by studio and touring professionals every day, DM5 contains more than 500 Alesis studio-grade sounds and 21 programmable drumsets recorded at 48kHz in stereo with ambient effects. Alesis' exclusive Dynamic Articulation™ feature modifies sounds to respond to velocity with timbral change, modeling the acoustic instruments they emulate.
The natural feel of the kit is owed to its drum pads and SURGE Cymbals. A dual-zone snare pad, three tom pads and a kick pad each feature an eight-inch mylar, tension-adjustable drumhead and a 2.3mm triple-flanged counterhoop for the most accurate representation of acoustic drum feel. SURGE Cymbals are made of brass cymbal alloy and feature built-in triggers. Because they are true, lathed cymbals rather than rubber pads, SURGE Cymbals offer the most natural cymbal feel available on any electronic drumset. A 12-inch Hi-Hat, 13-inch Crash and 16-inch dual-zone Ride are included.
Acoustic sound is reduced greatly through the use of high-density dampening foam under the drumheads, thick rubber sleeves on the counterhoops and a proprietary clear dampening layer on the cymbals.
All hardware in the DM5 Pro Kit with SURGE Cymbals has been engineered and developed for professional performance and flexibility. Every effort has been taken to reduce weight where possible to ensure that the kit is easy to transport from practice room to stage.
Drummers can practice quietly with headphones, or get as loud as they need on-stage by connecting to an amplifier.
"As a drummer, it's crucial to me that our drumsets not only sound great, but also feel great," said Gregg Stein, Director of Marketing. "The DM5 Pro Kit with SURGE Cymbals doesn't only sound and feel excellent, but it also looks the part." For more information, visit their web site at www.alesis.com.
