American DJ Unveils New Mystic LED

American DJ's original Mystic moonflower effect worked visual magic, shooting wand-like beams of brilliant color through special reflectors to create unique criss-crossing patterns that spread out over a wide area. Now the company has taken this popular club/band/DJ effect even further into the mystical realm with the introduction of the Mystic LED, an exciting new version of the fixture powered by 224 high-output colored LEDs and featuring DMX control.

Equipped with 88 red, 48 green and 88 blue 5mm LEDs, which are projected through 6 lenses, the new Mystic LED can cover some pretty big ground (or wall, or ceiling!), just like its halogen namesake. It produces 6 clusters of bright, razor-sharp LED beams that rotate and criss-cross each other, while swirling and gliding over wide areas. A great centerpiece or side piece for clubs, bowling centers, bands and DJs, the Mystic LED also features a color strobe effect and rainbow effect add to its visual thrills.

DMX compatibility brings the extra dimension of allowing users to create their own programs with any standard DMX-512 controller, such as Elation Professional's DMX Operator. The Mystic LED is equipped with 4 DMX channels, which give operators control over strobe speed, LED colors, rainbow effect and beam rotation via a convenient 4-button menu. For those who do not wish to use a DMX controller, the Mystic LED can be run as an easy-to-use plug-n-play effect, moving to its own built-in sound-active programs. Up to 16 units can be linked together master-slave via XLR cables. The Mystic LED can also be operated with American DJ's optional universal UC3 Controller (sold separately), for easy control of blackout, strobing and other basic functions.

One benefit of LEDs that DJs and club owners will especially appreciate is their extremely long lifetime. Rated at 100,000 hours, the Mystic LED's lamps will rarely burn out, saving users the time and expense of lamp replacement. Another advantage is the amazing energy efficiency of LEDs; the Mystic LED produces a bright output similar to a 250W halogen lamp, yet it consumes a mere 48W of power. This not only saves big on energy costs, it also allows you to connect more units to a single electrical circuit — and still have juice left for your audio gear! Additionally, since LEDs generate very little heat, the temperature on the dance floor or stage stays more comfortable, and mobile entertainers can pack up right away at the end of the evening without having to wait for the fixture to cool down.

A totally portable unit, the Mystic LED weighs just 10 lbs. and measures 18.5"L x 14.75"W x 14.75"H. It includes mounting brackets and an AC IEC outlet on the rear to daisy chain power.

Like the other effects in American DJ's LED FX Series, the Mystic LED carries an affordable price tag. It has an MSRP of $239.95.
