Bricasti Design is coming to the 125th AES Convention, to be held at Moscone Center, San Francisco, from October 2 thru 5, with exciting new enhancements to the innovative Model 7 Stereo Reverb Processor, and the flexible Model 10 Remote Console.
The Model 7's V2.0 software includes two new Soundstages, each of which is calculated off-line over the course of several months based on a specified acoustic model; it is the foundation of all M7 presets. "With V1.0 we released the most conservative of the three Soundstages," says co-founder/system designer Casey Dowdell. "V2.0 expands the user's sonic options three-fold, and brings new levels to the depth of sound and wrap-around quality that M7 users have applauded."
Users can also choose a Soundstage for individual presets. "Alternatively, operators that are using two or three M7s in surround applications can select different Soundstages for front and rear channels," Dowdell offers, "resulting in dramatically improved front-to-rear spaciousness."
V2.0 also features Bricasti's Second Algorithm, which brings the next evolutionary step to perceptual or larger than life spaces. "We wanted to include this Second Algorithm in our V1.0 release," the designer recalls, "but we just did not have the presets ready. We have had some great preset developers hard at work for the V2.0 release."
The new Bricasti Design Model 10 Remote Console is a dedicated hardware remote controller for use with the innovative and highly acclaimed M7 Stereo Reverb Processor. "Sharing a consistent human interface with the Model 7 was an important design goal," says Brian Zolner, company president and co-founder. "Consequently, the Model 10's control surface is simple, elegant and easy to use. The M10 puts control where and when you want it &mash; at the critical sweet spot &mash; while making acoustically sensitive adjustments within any mixing environment."
"Each design element of the Model 7 is a carefully considered statement of our vision of what the evolution of reverberation processing in its most classic form can be," considers Zolner. "With a deep appreciation of the best designs which precede it, and a passion for moving the science of reverberation forward, the Model 7 provides a palette of sounds that encompasses the familiar as well as new expressions in the art."
