Alesis NanoCompressor
July 12, 1996 -- Alesis Corporation announced the introduction of their new NanoCompressor, according to Jim Mack, Alesis' Director of Marketing. The NanoCompressor will be available at Alesis dealers later this year. "The NanoCompressor is a great example of Alesis' product design innovation at work," said Mack. "Even in its one-third rackspace package, the NanoCompressor doesn't skimp on the features that our customers expect from a professional-quality dynamics processor, like peak and RMS compression input detection, hard and soft knee compression curves and a sidechain interface." The Alesis NanoCompressor is a stereo compression unit. Its front-panel controls include Compression Ratio, Threshold, Attack, Release and Output Level as well as a Bypass button. Indicators include a 10-segment switchable input/output meter array and gain reduction metering. Rear panel connections include 1/4" unbalanced stereo inputs and outputs and a 1/4" TRS sidechain input. Like Alesis' popular 3630 Dual Channel Compressor/Limiter with Gate, the NanoCompressor offers the choice of RMS or Peak compression styles as well as hard knee or soft knee compression curves. The NanoCompressor's dimensions are as follows (WxHxD): 5.5" x 1.75" x 4.5". Its weight is merely 1.25 pounds. For more information, visit their web site at www.alesis.com.
