Boss SYB-3 Bass Synthesizer
July 12, 1996 -- With the current popularity of synthesizer bass in today's hip-hop, dance, pop, industrial and techno music, BOSS is introducing the first-of-its-kind SYB-3 Bass Synthesizer pedal. The SYB-3 is an innovative new product, squeezing professional synth bass sounds and tonal versatility into a standard-size stomp box. The SYB-3 can turn any electric bass guitar into a dance, techno, hip-hop, funk or R&B machine. In short, the SYB-3 molds a "straight" bass sound into a variety of today's popular synth bass sounds, with the freedom to mix the two distinct signals as desired. In all, the SYB-3 features 11 different modes for various synthesizer bass sounds: seven internal sound modes which use the input bass sound as a trigger to control a built-in oscillator; two wave shaping modes that process the bass sound to create a synth bass sound; and two T-wah modes that add auto-wah effects to the original bass sound. The SYB-3's additional controls include: a Decay/Sensitivity knob to adjust the decay time of the synth sound and sensitivity of the direct sound; Effect and Direct knobs which allow for independent level adjustment of the synth and direct sounds; and Frequency and Resonance knobs to control cutoff frequency and resonance. Two outputs from the SYB-3 pedal provide individual synth and direct signals for a variety of signal-routing options. And, like all BOSS foot pedals, the SYB-3 Bass Synthesizer pedal carries a five-year warranty.
