Automatic SE & GT Amps

July 11, 1997 -- Meet the Automatic SE and Automatic GT, two unique new amplifier personalities from Fender. Both of these 25-watt amplifiers are similarly Fender in design and reliability, but can display radically different tonal personalities depending on the style of music.

Featuring classic Fender tones from clean to overdrive, the SE's tonal range responds to fit into a number of musical environments, while the GT grinds and wails with extended high and low frequencies wherever it goes. The SE retains the classic look of its predecessors while the GT rebels with a different look from previous era models.

Both amplifiers feature five push button selectable channels, with tone choices ranging from "Fender clean" to "Mega-apocalypse" at the touch of a button. Five preset tones are standard: Fender Clean, Studio Clean, Crunch, Overdrive and Solo Lead. An optional footswitch allows players to flow easily from any preset tone to Solo Lead.

In line with their non-traditional characteristics, hieroglyphics were chosen to denote each channel selection rather than numbers. Additionally, both amps boast chorus, Fender reverb, pickup compensation switches that accommodate single coil pickups and humbuckers, CD/tape inputs and headphone jacks.

"Five distinct timbres created by the Fender Tone team at the touch of a push button, plus Chorus and Fender Reverb for around $300.00 MSRP -- the Automatics are two of the coolest, most versatile amps going for practice or small gigs," noted Shane Nicholas, Fender amp product specialist.
