Squier Bass Pak Aims for First Time Buyers

July 11, 1997 -- Looking for a one-stop solution for first-time bass buyers who tend to agonize over what they need to buy to put their combo in overdrive? Fear no more. Fender Musical Instruments has just rolled out the Squier Bass Pak -- a colorful, easy-to-carry, point-of-purchase display box that contains a Squier Affinity SRS P-Bass, gig bag, Squier BP-15 amp, strap, CRIBNOTE(TM) tutorial and cord.

"The success of the Squier Strat Pak has proven that this type of packaging appeals to first time buyers of musical instruments," stated Joe Carducci, marketing manager for Fender's imported guitar division. "The concept behind the packaging is to make the purchase easy. In praise of the packaged concept, retailers have reported that they don't have to 'give away' a strap, cord or gig bag in order to close the sale of only a guitar. There's one price, and everything needed is contained in one box."

The Affinity P-Bass features a solid hardwood body, one-piece maple neck, 9.5-inch radius neck, rosewood fretboard, split single coil pickup, single-ply pickguard and chrome hardware. The Bass Pak's easily portable Squier BP-15 amp boasts 15 watts of pure power, an 8-inch speaker, 3-band EQ, headphone jack and external speaker jack.

A cool feature of the Bass Pak is the inclusion of CRIBNOTE -- a unique visual aid that helps learning players navigate the fretboard and learn notes as well as patterns. CRIBNOTE consists of vinyl strips that adhere to the side of the neck. Instructions are included.

The Squier Bass Pak will be offered throughout the year. U.S. suggested retail price is $490.00.
