Grover Pro Percussion Displays New Power-Picc(TM) Snare Drum

July 11, 1997 -- The new Power-Picc (MSRP $480) is a 5x10" secondary snare drum that is designed to be mounted from a hi hat stand or cymbal stand. It is now available with a maple or exclusive CST shell. The Maple Series features 8 plies of maple with an outer ply of imported, hand-select Italian wood that is chosen for its beautiful grain pattern and rich finish. Designer Italian Ligna Finishes include four birdseye patterns (Natural Wood, Cobalt Blue, Carmine Red and Sage Green) and two burl patterns (Deep Plum and Amazon Green). The CST Series, which is available in nine high-gloss finishes, features a virtually indestructible synthetic shell with a distinctive bright tone and ultra-sensitive response.

"For years, drummers have been adding double bass drums, toms and cymbals to their existing drumset while the snare drum configuration has remained stagnant," commented Neil Grover, president of Grover Pro Percussion. "Our new Power-Picc allows drummers to mount a secondary snare drum from their hi hat or any cymbal stand to increase their variety of sound colors."

All Performance Snare Drums feature the new Performance Snare System non-spiral snare wire for increased projection and sensitivity, die-cast "coffin-style" lugs with rubber bushings that allow the shell to vibrate freely, precision bearing edges for minimal head-to-shell contact, 2.3mm hoops isolated with nylon washers, and a nodal venting system which places an air-dispersion vent in the drum's "sweet" spot (near the bottom drum head) to produce a faster transient attack.
