Studer D19 MultiDAC 8-Channel Digital-to-Analog Converter

July 11, 1997 -- The extremely successful and highly regarded Studer D19 family of digital/analog converters is now significantly enhanced by the Studer D19 MultiDAC, an eight-channel digital-to-analog converter with the unique Studer MixMonitor feature. The unit is packed into 1U rack space and offers 23-bit digital to analogue conversion with AES/EBU inputs as standard.

Versatility is the key with the Studer D19 MultiDAC. It is designed for a wide range of applications, including use as a converter for monitoring from digital consoles, as a stage monitoring digital preamplifier, and as a universal D/A converter/interface for monitoring between linear and non-linear digital recording systems. In addition, the Studer D19 MultiDAC can operate from a wide range of sampling frequencies, enabling any or all of the D19 MultiDAC's inputs to utilize individual sampling rates.

All analog outputs are transformer-balanced and feature an output level potentiometer (which can be disabled by using the calibrate function). And as with the equally well-regarded Studer D19 MicAD and Studer MicVALVE, the Studer MultiDAC features two optional eight-channel digital input modules as an ADAT/TDIF-1 interface.

Of particular interest is the Studer D19 MultiDAC's MixMonitor feature, which allows front panel monitoring to any of the outputs in mono or stereo. In addition, any combination of the Studer D19 MultiDAC's output channels can be mixed to the monitor output (which also features a headphone jack, a five-pin balanced line level XLR output and a volume control). This allows direct off-track monitor mixing when the unit is used in conjunction with the Studer MicAD and an MDM recorder for direct-to-track recording.

The new MultiDAC works seamlessly in conjunction with the other components of the Studer D19 Series, offering users an unparalleled degree of flexibility while also providing the sonic quality that Studer has come to symbolize.
