Alesis Ships Q20 Professional 20-Bit Master Effects Processor
July 10, 1998 -- Alesis Corporation announces that the Q20 Professional 20-Bit Master Effects Processor has shipped to select dealers and is currently available for a suggested retail price of $999(US). The Q20 replaces the popular Q2 as the premiere multieffects processor in the Alesis signal processing product line. The Q20 holds up to eight fully programmable effects that can be run in a series, parallel, or even fed back into themselves. The Q20 includes 300 total programs, including 100 preset and 200 spaces for user-designed programs.
"The Q20 takes the best of the Q2 and builds on it," said Jeff Laity, marketing manager of Alesis signal processing products. "New features like the balanced XLR inputs and outputs, 20-bit digital converters, an internal power transformer, and S/PDIF digital inputs and outputs make a vast difference." "Our customers have always given us acclaim for the high-quality effects and incredible versatility of the Q2," said Jim Mack, vice president of marketing at Alesis. "The hardware improvements we've implemented into the Q20 make it perfect for more advanced professional applications in recording studios, post production facilities, and especially in live sound and fixed installation." Some of the available effects programs include hall, room and plate reverb, graphic and parametric EQ, flanging, chorus, pitch shifting, delay, rotary speaker simulation, overdrive, auto panning with Doppler effect, stereo sampling and many more.
