Gibson Announces Limited Run of Les Paul DC Standard Sunburst

July 10, 1998 -- Gibson USA introduced the DC Standard in early 1998 to critical acclaim and consumer accolades. The guitar is part of the Les Paul family, which has become legendary to musicians around the world for playability, sound quality, versatility and classic looks.

Due to popular demand, Gibson is expanding the Les Paul DC Standard lineup with two new Limited Edition Sunburst models, featuring the ultimate combination of the Gibson double-cutaway body design and the legendary Gibson sunburst finish. Available for the first time in lush Tangerineburst and the elegant Lemonburst, these new models are guaranteed to add spice to any collection and, due to the their limited availability, are destined to become instant collector's items.

The DC Standard offers enhanced playability with total access to the 24 fret fingerboard via an unusual upper cutaway (above where the neck meets the body), and a fast-actioned 1959 Slim Tapered neck. Expanded Standard features include a contoured mahogany back and special tone chambers which make the DC the lightest and most comfortable Les Paul ever. Gibson's premium nitro-cellulose lacquer finish (Gibson is the only major manufacturer of electric guitars to use a 100% nitro finish on most of its models) and hand painted new sunburst colors allow the beauty of the book-matched, AAA figured maple top to shine through. This model comes equipped with traditional Les Paul Standard features such as a bound rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays, dual humbucker pickups, and premium Grover tuners.

The limited run Les Paul DC Standard Sunburst guitars will retail for $2409.00 and will be available starting September 1, 1998.
