TC Electronic Gold Channel Mic Preamp Now Shipping
July 10, 1998 -- TC Electronic is showing the new Gold Channel at the 1998 Summer NAMM show, booth 1243. The first Gold Channel shipped in June, and is a two channel digitally enhanced microphone preamplifier, featuring high resolution 24 bit A/D conversion with 96kHz equalization and dynamics processing, according to Ed Simeone, managing Director of U.S. Operations. Gold Channel features include an expander/gate, SoftSat(tm) compressor/limiter, equalizer and additional processing tools, all accessible through an easy to use channel strip interface with high resolution metering. AES/EBU, Tos Link SPDIF, ADAT, I/Os are all provided, in addition to standard Mic and line inputs and Word Clock in. In an industry first for a mic-preamp - the Gold Channel features 200 User Preset memory locations for instant recall of custom configurations. "The way a signal gets recorded can be the weakest link for a studio, TC has addressed this issue by creating the Gold Channel. The Gold Channel was designed with precious signal handling in mind and is a serious tool for any recordist", comments Simeone. "In addition to ensuring that a clean, pure signal gets printed safely, the Gold Channel can also be patched in for additional processing of recorded material in 96kHz resolution afterwards."
