Yamaha Upgrades Entire Foot Pedal Line

July 10, 1998 -- Yamaha Drums announces upgrades to its entire line of foot pedals. The new upgrades include a tongue attachment to the bass drum hoop now located on the side of all pedals which adjusts with a drum key. An extremely sturdy footboard drum key bolt has been added to the pedals to provide a more secure system and eliminate breakage. The felt on the beater is thicker to simulate a normal felt beater, hitting the bass drum head at the proper angle providing a smooth feel and dramatically improved speed and dynamic control.

The professional model upgrades include the FP-850 single pedal, double chain, retail $195; FP-750 single pedal, single chain, retail $155; DFP-880 double pedal, double chain, retail $515; DFP-780 double pedal, single chain, retail $435. The DFP-880L is available in a left version with a retail price of $515. The new DFP-880S and DFP-780S slave units are available for drummers wishing to upgrade from a single pedal to a double pedal. The DFP-880S and DFP-780S retail for $340 and $305, respectively. The FP-700 single bass drum pedal retails for $100. A DFP-700S slave is available for the FP-700 at the retail price of $260. The DFP-700 double pedal retails for $345. All pedals are currently available.

"The upgrades made to these pedals provide for a great-feeling, smooth, and sturdy pedal that Yamaha has been traditionally known for," exclaims David Jewell, product manager, Drum Department, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. "Yamaha manufactures incredible pedals at a price point considerably lower than those of other manufacturers."
