Guild Introduces X160 Rockabilly Guitar

July 26, 1999 -- Guild will introduce its latest and most swingin' guitar to date, as attendees of this summer's NAMM convention in Nashville, Tennessee in July are treated to the new X160 Rockabilly. This new arch-top guitar from Guild is sure to be an instant hit when it is unleashed in the state that gave birth to the music that made famous such legends as Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, and Johhny Cash.

This new Guild arch-top guitar recalls a look, sound and feel from an era that has helped define almost every form of music as we know it today. Drawing on influences from swing, jazz, blues, rock 'n roll and country music, Guild has designed a new hollowbody electric guitar that can only be described with one word. . . "Rockabilly". The all maple body, known for its rich and smooth tones, is brought to life by its 2 Original DeArmond 2000 pickups. The result is an electric, "twangy" rockin'-country guitar that will attract players both old an new to the sound that started it all.

To be built at the venerable guitar maker's Westerly, Rhode Island facilities, the X160 is based on Guild's famous Savoy body shape. The fretboard of the X160 is solid rosewood with pearloid "block" inlays, and is rounded off with an unmistakable Bigsby tailpiece and tremolo bridge. Unlike any other Guild Jazz guitar, the Rockabilly will be available in four distinctive color options, including: Black; Tennessee Orange; Metallic Blue; and Fiesta Red. United States MSRP is $2,499.99.
