February 6, 2000 -- MasterLink ML-9600 ($1699 USD MSRP), the new mixdown and mastering unit from Alesis is now shipping to dealers around the globe. MasterLink integrates hard disk recording, digital signal processing, and compact disc creation/playback in a stand-alone system at an affordable price. MasterLink's high-resolution audio capabilities and built-in editing provide a distinct advantage over less advanced mixdown tools such as DAT, cassette, and standard CD recorders.

MasterLink ML-9600 allows studios, musicians and mastering facilities to store, deliver and play stereo 24-bit, 96kHz audio as well as conventional 16-bit, 44.1kHz Red Book CDs on standard recordable compact discs.

"Now that MasterLink is available, Alesis is the only manufacturer to answer the demand for a complete and affordable mastering solution by consolidating 2-track hard disk recording, digital signal processing, and high-resolution CD creation into one comprehensive unit," says Don Hannah, Alesis marketing manager - recording products. "MasterLink will be the key component in any studio that wants to maintain high-resolution audio through the 2-track mixdown process."

Each MasterLink unit will ship with a blank BASF CD-R Master provided by EMTEC Pro Media, makers of 20-Bit Formatted ADAT Master. "In continuing with our spirit of cooperation, EMTEC is pleased to be once again partnering with Alesis Corporation. The MasterLink packed-in with the BASF CD-R Master is a winning combination," says Jean Tardibuono, EMTEC Pro Media's VP of Sales and Marketing Studio/Broadcast Products.

MasterLink features a 4.3 GB internal hard drive with editing, digital signal processing and mastering functions, a 4X write speed CD-R drive, and 24-bit, 96kHz A/D and D/A converters.

Alesis Corporation manufactures a full line of professional audio and musical instrument products capitalizing on its strengths in digital, analog, vacuum tube and transducer technologies.
