New DeArmond Thinline Hollowbody Recalls Classic Tones

February 3, 2000 -- DeArmond introduces an all new thinline hollowbody guitar this year with the T400. A cross between contemporary DeArmond and classic Guild designs, the new T400 is the top-of-the-line guitar in the increasingly popular DeArmond family.

Designed for musicians looking for a retro-style guitar, the T400 invokes the sound and feel sought after by swing, blues and rockabilly players. While this is a true hollowbody guitar, its sound is intentionally more electric than acoustic, and it delivers the "twang" that is essential to these playing styles.

From the front view, the all maple-bodied T400 mirrors that of the full size DeArmond X135 and X155 hollowbody guitars. The T400, however, is roughly half the depth of these guitars which helps to enhance the bright, treble-rich response of the arched maple top. The slimmer body is also more comfortable when playing while seated.

The T400 offers the signature fat-but-bright sound of its two, American-made DeArmond 2K single coil pickups. In addition to the volume and tone control for each of these pickups, the T400 comes with a master volume control on its cutaway.

The neck of the T400 is a unique maple/walnut/maple 3-piece configuration that has been designed for added strength and stability. The bound fingerboard is rosewood and is adorned with pearl "block" inlays. To complete the look and sound, and to add another dimension of retro vibe and versatility, a DeArmond Vibro tailpiece is matched with anAdjust-O-Matic bridge.

Finish options for the T400 include Tennessee Orange, Crimson Red Transparent or Natural. Available for delivery in February of 2000. United States MSRP is $1,149.99.
