New Line Affordable PA Line From Squier
February 6, 2000 -- Throughout the year 2000, Squier by Fender will be introducing a full line of affordable Pro Audio (PA) products. Initially, the new line will consist of an entire family of loud speakers that will be introduced at Winter NAMM in Los Angeles, soon to be followed by powered mixers. The new Squier sound equipment adheres to Fenders philosophy that every level of musician should be able to afford quality equipment and instruments to further their craft. Designed for beginners, part-time musicians and studio hobbyists, the new Squier PA line does just that - it offers musicians exactly what they need to enhance their performance at a price they can afford. Squiers high standards of product quality will be upheld on imported models as well as those produced at Fenders own state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. "Squier is a brand name that is synonymous with value," explains Keith Brawley, Vice President of Strategic Brands. "Whether its for a band getting started in the garage, or one thats made the jump to the occasional weekend gig, Squier sound equipment offers incredible performance and quality while being affordable. For someone who wants to get into the game, its really the ultimate value." Three new loudspeakers will be the first offering from Squier this January, beginning with the SQ15. This is a 15" two-way loudspeaker that is designed for use as either the main speaker system, for the front of the house, or as a reinforcement. The SQ15 consists of a 15" woofer with a 2" voice coil, and dual piezoelectric compression drivers with 1-1/2" diaphragms. The power handling is 200 Watts program, or 400 Watts at 8 ohms, and it runs at a continuous maximum of 116dB SPL. The black vinyl-covered trapezoidal cabinet is reinforced with metal corner brackets, and comes with metal glide feet and a pole mount socket. United States MSRP for the SQ15 is $289.99, and will be available for order in February, 2000. The Squier SQ12 is a 12" two-way loudspeaker, also designed for use as a main or reinforcement PA system. This speaker consists of a 12" woofer with a 1-1/2" voice coil and dual piezoelectric compression drivers with 1-1/2" diaphragms. The power handling is 160 Watts program, or 320 Watts at 8 ohms, and it runs at a continuous maximum of 114dB SPL. Rounding out the new family of Squier loudspeakers is the SQ10. For the garage, practice studio, or smaller venues, the SQ10 is a compact 10" two-way loudspeaker designed for use as a main or reinforcement system. This SQ10 has of a 10" woofer with a 1-1/2" voice coil and a piezoelectric compression driver with 1-1/2" diaphragm. The power handling is 120 Watts program, or 240 Watts at 8 ohms, and it runs at a continuous maximum of 112dB SPL. The SQ10 is covered with black vinyl and reinforced metal corners, with metal glide feet and a pole mount. United States MSRP for the SQ10 is $189.99, and it is available for order in February, 2000.
