Focusrite Previews Platinum 4 MixMaster Stereo Mix Processor
February 7, 2000 -- Digidesign exhibits Focusrite line of analog signal processors at the Winter NAMM tradeshow. Among these are the Platinum, Red, and ISA Range processors. Previewed at this years show will be the new Platinum 4 MixMaster stereo mix processor. The MixMaster is designed to be used on the output of a consoles main stereo output bus during mixdown or with a console as an interim processor during the recording process from a stereo send/insert. Designed for the serious recording musician, the MixMaster is a 2U, 19" rack mount unit comprising the following sections: stereo line inputs operable at 10 dBV or +4 dBu levels, stereo expander, multi-band compressor, (3 bands) 3-band EQ with swept high and low bands and a parametric mid band with 10X scale. The MixMaster also contains a stereo image controller, and a multiband frequency adaptive limiter for minimum distortion and maximum A/D protection. Optionally, the MixMaster can be fitted with a 24 bit/96kHz stereo digital A/D card that can be used to feed a mastering machine, such as a DAT or CD-R. It can also be used as a standalone stereo converter when transferring audio from one machine to another. The MixMaster will be available in March 2000 at an MSRP of $1,195 (USD). The optional 24 bit/96 kHz A/D board will also be available in March and will carry an MSRP of $195 (USD).
