ADA Cobra Combo Amp

January 18, 1996 -- ADA Amplification Systems announces the release of its new COBRA, a 120 Watt channel switching guitar combo amp. The COBRA features two 10-inch CUSTOM BRITISH CLASSIC drivers and six tube voices for unlimited tonal flexibility and instant on-stage control.

Two totally independent channels have separate Voicing, Drive EQ, Variable Boost, Reverb Mix, and Master Volume controls. The Red Channel is a four-stage preamp with Vintage, Brown, Grind and Lead voicings. The Green Channel is a two-stage preamp with Clean and Crunch voicings. All Voicings use two low-noise 12AX7A tubes for rich harmonics and overdrive. The Variable Boost in each channel allows for just the right amount of volume boost to kick in on stage. Every COBRA comes complete with a custom 4-button Snake Charmer footswitch, which offers one-button switching of channels, with or without Boost.

ADA's exclusive VariCAB(TM) circuitry provides a completely new level of versatility not found in any other combo amp. VariCAB allows the COBRA to emulate the tonal complexity of much larger speaker cabinet configurations. VariCAB options include 1x12, 2x12, 4x12 cabinet emulations, either bright or dark. There is also a variable Thump control for low frequency Resonance, and a variable Hi-Cut control which simulates speaker type and miking characteristics. VariCAB processing is particularly effective when recording directly or patching to a sound reinforcement console using the Recording Out jack. The 3-spring reverb is warm and dense, featuring independent mix controls for each channel. The COBRA also includes a Noise Gate with adjustable threshold for ultra-quiet operation, as well as a Presence control to adjust overall brilliance.

ADA's rugged, compact cabinet is constructed with 3/4-inch 7-ply cabinet grade plywood and heavy-duty nickel hardware. Every COBRA is backed by a standard three-year warranty, with an optional ten-year transferable warranty available.

An optional 1x12 extension cabinet features the same high quality open-back construction and comes equipped with a Celestion G12T75 12-inch driver. For larger venues, this is the ticket to project even more of those bass frequencies.
