Lexicon Pitch FX Card for the PCM 80

January 18, 1996 -- Lexicon is introducing a new Pitch FX card for their critically-acclaimed PCM 80 Digital Effects Processor. The card plugs into the processor's front panel PC Card slot, instantly expanding the unit's functionality with new algorithms and presets.

The Pitch FX Card for the PCM 80 provides the some of the finest and most flexible pitch shifting algorithms Lexicon has ever developed. In conjunction with the outstanding Pitch effects, full stereo Lexicon reverb is available to complement the sound. With fine pitch shifting in 1 cent increments, the PCM 80 now offers the ability to correct pitch problems that might exist on a track. The PCM 80's extensive patching and modulation capabilities may also be used to create incredibly smooth doubling and chorusing effects. The Pitch FX card also provides a maximum three octaves up or down of pitch shifting.

There are six new algorithms included in the Pitch FX Card: Stereo-Chamber, Dual-Chamber, Dual-Plate, Dual-lnverse, VSO-Chamber, and Quad-Hall. Stereo-Chamber can be used to pitch shift stereo material without altering its stereo image. Dual-Chamber, Dual-Plate, and Dual-lnverse each combine a two voice pitch shifter (including delays and feedback) with a specific stereo reverb algorithm. Quad-Hall is a four voice pitch shifter with delays and feedback paired with the PCM 80 Concert Hall algorithm. VSO-Chamber is a stereo pitch shifter optimized for pitch correction of off-speed playback material.

According to Lexicon's Director of Product Management Steve De Furia, "The new Pitch FX Card is the logical next step in the PCM 80's evolution. The PCM 80 platform was designed from the very beginning to allow effects to be added as they are developed. The new Pitch FX Card offers a wide range of additional effects, further enhancing the unit's capabilities -- and with the PCM 80's multiple DSP design we can provide unparalleled pitch shifting without compromising reverb quality. The end result is a unique effects box with the widest range of potential applications.'

The Pitch FX Card will be available in early 1996, joining the Dual FX Card and two preset cards for the PCM 80.
