dbx 20 Series EQs
January 16, 1997 -- Representing the integration of two diverse technologies for the first time in an equalizer, the new 20 Series EQs from dbx exemplify a totally new dimension in EQ performance. Each unit features dbx's built-in Type III (patent-pending) noise reduction for better than 20dB of transparent noise reduction. An entirely new concept in noise reduction design, Type III provides virtually instantaneous encoding and decoding within the unit's circuitry. The benefit of Type III NR in an equalizer is that radical EQing, which causes increased noise in all other equalizers, does not substantially affect noise performance in the 20 series equalizers. The EQs also make use of dbx's PeakPlus (patent-pending) Limiter on each channel for overall gain control, with limiter threshold control selectable from 0dB to +20dB to off. Graceful yet powerful, PeakPlus is designed to tame a wide array of program material, from the subtlest nuances to the rowdiest hits. Four-stage LED gain reduction and output ladders provide an exact visual indication as to what the limiter and signal levels are doing. Featuring 45mm long-throw sliders, the 2231, 2215 and 2031 all provide XLR, 1/4-inch jack and barrier strip balanced inputs and outputs. Fully UL-approved, additional amenities include a clip LED, chassis ground lift and dual range switch for +6dB or +15dB operation, switchable 40Hz 18dB/octave Bessel low-cut filter and EQ bypass switch. Models in the 20 Series include: the 2231, 3U dual 1/3rd-octave EQ; 2215, 2U dual 2/3rd-octave EQ; and 2031, 2U single 1/3rd-octave EQ. For more information, visit their web site at www.dbxpro.com.
