BSS Audio Updates OMNIDRIVETM Software to Version 1.1A slew of new features on V1.1 makes the acclaimed FDS-355 even more comprehensive January 29, 1998 -- BSS Audio announces the Version 1.1 software update for their FDS-355 OMNIDRIVETM Compact Loudspeaker Management system is now available. The software update will be available to users and dealers in three convenient modes of delivery: via disk or PCMCIA card, or downloaded from the Internet, and will bring an entirely new range of capabilities and speed to the operation of the OMNIDRIVE Compact. The new software update is incredibly comprehensive. New features include: improved graphics and a faster refresh of all editing screens; new highlighting of parameters being edited; a single edit screen for each EQ band; new limiter design and modes (Normal and Fast); backup and swap edit modes; a "store trims" utility; and delay display options which are now enhanced to include frames-per-second (24, 25, 30 fps). In addition, the new upgrade heightens more of the specific features that make the BSS Audio OMNIDRIVE Compact unique. The FDS-355 is designed to keep all operational parameters secure from tampering, and the new update provides for the SAFE mode lock to display two pixels on screen to avoid confusion, while a new fully implemented Master/Save mode allows for the operation of two units in stereo. To implement the new software update, users may access it from one of three convenient sources. Users can call BSS Audio directly at 615-360-0277 to request a disk to be shipped to them. Users can also download the upgrade from the BSS Audio website at http://www.bssaudio.co.uk. Or, users can obtain a PCMCIA card from BSS Audio with the software already loaded. The OMNIDRIVE Compact uses a new FLASH EPROM and RS232 interface, so the update can be easily implemented virtually anywhere using a PC running Windows 95 and a 9-pin "null modem" cable. Directions are included in the README file on the disk. The FDS-355 OMNIDRIVE Compact Loudspeaker Management System offers a wide range of programmable features for many professional sound applications, including: three audio inputs and five outputs for stereo two-way to mono five-way applications; over fifty parametric EQ bands assignable to inputs or outputs; delays (variable up to 1.3 seconds); and mid-filter speaker-protecting limiters, as well as the 60-place instantly recallable system memory. All of these design aspects have led the OMNIDRIVE to be hailed for its ability to achieve the best performance out of any speaker system or environment.
