DOD Adds AcousTEC and VoTEC to TEC Family
January 29, 1998 -- DOD has recently added two new pedals to its TEC Series of multi- effects processors-the AcousTEC and VoTEC. AcousTEC:Catering to the popularity of the "Unplugged" movement, DOD introduces its new AcousTEC multi-effects processor tailored specifically for the acoustic instrumentalist. The AcousTEC incorporates features and effects specially designed to complement acoustic instruments, such as a more responsive analog compressor section, flexible three-band EQ with boost/cut capabilities, built-in feedback suppression, dual analog notch filter with frequency control and noise gate. The AcousTEC's digital effects section includes Chorus, Flange, Phase, Tremolo, Detune, 12-string Emulation, Mono/Tap Delay, Reverb and Envelope Filter. The processor is also designed to work with modern electric/acoustic guitars as well as those favorite old dreadnoughts. A chromatic tuner with three references can be accessed in Program Bypass mode, and the unit's expression pedal input can be used with most volume and continuous controller pedals to provide control over master level and other effect parameters. Equipped with a generous number of factory presets and user-defined locations, the AcousTEC offers a Jam-Along(TM) input to play along with CDs or cassettes, as well as a standard headphone output. VoTEC:Also new is DOD's VoTEC--a personal, floor-controlled multi-effects processor exclusively for vocalists. Physically resembling the AcousTEC and other TEC Series multieffects guitar processors, the VoTEC allows singers to manipulate their vocal effects on stage in real-time. With the VoTEC, no longer does everyone in the band have to have the same vocal effects, or have their effects inappropriately used by the sound engineer.
Every effect that a vocalist could want is included in the VoTEC, including Delay, Reverb, Compression, EQ, Noise Gate and a modulation section that includes Chorus, Flange, Phase Shift, Pitch Shift and Tremolo. Also included are DOD's Pixellator, Ring Modulator, Telephone and Megaphone effects, Envelope Filter effects and Vocal Distortion for a wide range of bizarre tools. As with the AcousTEC, numerous effect parameters may be adjusted by patching in an external volume or continuous controller pedal, providing even more outlandish real-time expression control. Equipped with plenty of factory presets and userdefinable program spaces, up to seven effects may be utilized at the same time to grant exactly what the vocalist is looking for. An XLR input on the rear panel of the VoTEC accommodates just about any microphone on the market, while a line out connects to the mic input of a PA to afford real-time control of the unit's effects. Perfect for anything from one-man bands to "Industrial nightmares", DOD's VoTEC is every singer's dream. Suggested U.S. retail price on DOD's AcousTEC is $189.95, while the VoTEC carries a suggested retail price of $199.95. For more information, visit their web site at www.dod.com.
